First of all I ought to say hello - Hello everyone.

Strictly speaking, I am not an "owner" of an Omega but I will be in the very near future anyway. Deposit being paid to the garage in about 30 minutes time  Smiley It's a dark Green V reg 2.5 GLS, with a FSH and only 69K on the clock.

If I may be so bold as to ask a few quick questions of your considerable intellects though:

1) How often should it be serviced
2) How painful is the first trip to the petrol station going to be? (Currently drive an Astra which takes £40ish to fill)
3) I hear tell of common rust spots, do you know of anything I can do to help keep it rust free?
4) Is £1,295 a reasonable amount to pay for a V reg 2.5 GLS, with FSH, 69K on the clock, cambelt changed Feb 07 (5K ago) and new discs and pads all round?

is it a facelift V reg or prefacelift?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM  Thumbs Up! ignor the vx service scheduel and change oil every 3/4 thou and clean breathers every 6 months.  look for oil in plug holes and change cam cover gaskets if oil present in plug holes. Smiley

As said, maintenance is the key to keeping these cars good.  Check the relevant sections here for info.

Also, pull up a keyboard and feel free to join in the gags and banter in genchat and elsewhere, when the chance arises.  Most don't bite.......   Thumbs Up!

Why thank you all, most kind!!

I've already perused the maintenance section and have compiled a list of jobs to do as soon as I pick the car up. And my thanks to all those who took the time to post up the "How To" guides as well, I will be following those most keenly!

Although not looking forward to cleaning the crankcase breathers, as that looks like it might take a full afternoon of graft. Plus there are a number of things to disengage and reattach at the same time, to facilitate it.

Might leave that for the time being until I have a Saturday full of guaranteed sunshine so I can take my time over it.

I am tempted, but have an exam first thing monday morning and that entire weekend is devoted to last minute preparation.  Embarrassed

However, if there is a "Crankcase breather cleansing soiree" in the near future then I'll be there!!
