i think the £19 comes from their guestimated readings, and as its coming up to winter they reckon you'll be using more.
I had the good fortune to live i  avery warm flat once and didnt use the heating at all throughout the year, i used to get a check of the gas people for about £100 every april!!

Uswitch sounds the best idea.

Generaly you use more in winter so they will be upping it to try to offset that.....but, the first quote does sound to high!

Have to say, I wish my bill was as cheap as that!

we have just gone from Prepayment meter back to billing.....

We were putting in between £50-£60 a month on the prepayment, i was told my DD will be £40 for the next quarter and from there it will be assessed.

However i have noticed that the difference in unit price is huge, i think we worked it out to be about 15% - on that basis my bill should be 15% cheaper per quarter....woohoo....

however i have to say i like prepayment, i feel i have more control over it, but i feel i am getting shafted for that privilige by paying the extra costs Angry

New legislation. I got a letter from barclays telling me that they are not allowed to let me view my loan account on line any more. They will send me statements and all I can view is the running balance. Shocked

Wondered why my loan account was not accesible, Least you got a letter i got F@@k all from them.  Pissed off with barclays now, been with them 18 years, never been overdrawn and they decide to default my mortgage dd.  they charge me £8 and the mortgage company charge me £27.  Barclays explain that my account T&C changed in august this year , but I was not notified as shareholders would be unhappy forking out for stationary to let customers know of any such changes and I should go to the bank to see T&C.  Barstewards, now moving elsewhere Angry Angry Angry Angry

The price of electricity and gas SHOULD be dropping like a stone,as it has traditionlly tracked the price of oil.
I did read a report yesterday though which said that the energy industry decided to abolish the link to oil prices a few months ago, when it became obvious that oil prices had gone past their peak.
It also said that the government was complicit in this as the industry needs extra money for future investment.
I dont know how accurate this was, time will tell I suppose. Undecided

You dont honestly think they would ever reduce the cost to the energy consumer do you.   They just put it up, theres nooooo way they would bring it back down.

people were saying the same about petrol a couple of weeks ago.
the price of energy normally tracks the price of oil,in fact iirc the reason for the last price hike was given as the price of oil.
IF they are still using oil prices as a guide for energy prices then the prices should be falling in the same way as petrol is.
The fact that gormless Gordons brother is a bigwig in the energy industry (EDF) may be of help to keeping prices up? Undecided
