Electric Bill
15. Oct 2008 at 19:28

Arrived today based on a fully upto date reading, I pay monthly the ammount of £30.00

DD payment arrives with them tomorrow.

Current Debit = £38.18 (
-£30.00
) Am £8.18 short of being a fully paid up member.

Yet they are incrasing my DD from £30 to
£49
per month an increase of
61%

On the phone they tell me Electric has gone up by 15/16%

How do thy justify it?  They simply say that New Legislation does not allow them to let anyone fall into arrears.  Undecided Undecided

F Angry AngryKing 61% INCREASE.

Phone them up and offer to send them a cheque for £8.18 otherwise next stop will be uswitch.com. It's so easy to dump them these days.

New legislation. I got a letter from barclays telling me that they are not allowed to let me view my loan account on line any more. They will send me statements and all I can view is the running balance. Shocked

I did and they did argue.

I asked to be put though to a manger and she said the least she would accept is £41 and if I was not happy then cancel my DD.

I asked if they took standing orders .

Then asked if I would lose any discount to which it was a Yes to Standing Orders and no loss on discount.

Thing is my bill (3 months) is showing a monthly DD discount of
-£20.00
(I then get told this is a one off yearly payment add to that particular bill)

I was going to offer my Dell XPS for OOF server usage but I reckon it uses 600W just keeping the fans going...

That & the high noise level is why I retired it.  Sad

just pay the extra and tell them you'll keep your DD the same, they cant force you to py more per month.

Downside is, next quarter, or month, depending on your billing, you may be in arrears and end up having to pay a lump, specially this time of year.

Might be worth pying the extra, then setting the amount to somewhere in the middle, eg £38-39.

there is no new legislation though.

They will not accept a penny less than £41.

What I find interesting is the fact that they tell I my usage is averaging £36 per month, yet I pay only £30 so why am I not £72 in arrears.

Even if you base my usage on the price increase, an extra £6 per month is all that is required, NOT £19.00 EXTRA PER MONTH.
