Flat Battery would this method work to get in car
03. Apr 2009 at 19:48

Talked about this with Andy B and still not risked it ..If you have tow bar electrics fitted would it work if you plugged in a male socket into the main caravan/trailer connector on the tow bar & had it connected to a fully charged battery, would allow you to in effect ( to unlock the door with your remote ) as in theory its like jumping the car battery..
Just a thought if it could'nt possibly damage anything else (car electrics) I would try it, as then it would be no more flat battery lock outs Thumbs Up!

I really don't know the answer to that sorry but why not try turning the key in the lock?

Can't see why it won't work if caravan socket has a permanent live you could put a small amp fuse on the supply as a precaution Thumbs Up!

If your locks are any thing like mine they've seized up through lack of use now I lube them and use the key just to keep them working.

Isn't that output switched via relay?? If so it wouldn't get to the battery as the relay would be inactive

One is, for your fridge & charging circuits but there should also be a permanent live for powering up the 'van from your car's battery.

I posted a couple of picks on socket wiring diagrams just after I joined the forum regards this subject.

If I am right, the main (Single socket) is not live with out the ignition on.

However, on a twin socket setup there is a live and earth on socket 2 that is generally used for plugging the 12volt fridge into. Thumbs Up!

The 12N is just for road lighting

12S is for caravan electrics but look at the link I posted. The fridge connection is only live with the engine running but there is/should be another for powering up the 'van if the 'van's battery fails.

you have to be careful, as it depends how it was connected to a live. i've had cars that its connected to an ignition live like the fuel pump......

i can normally get in mine when teh bats flat or disconnected through the boot which you can open with the key if you turn it an extra bit, but that does depend on if you've locked the ski hatch.. if not then you can reach the seat fold button and climb trough to open the bonnet

The Omega's rear seats look to be the same locking mechanism as the Senator's were, and you can flip them from the boot .... been there & done that from a fully dead-locked car.
If you have opened the boot though, you can power up the car via the boot light .... done that too.  Wink Wink Wink
