"The current percentage contribution of the UK to world carbon emissions = 1.87% [falling rapidly due to growth elsewhere in the world];

The most recent estimate by Ernst and Young of the cost of maintaining the UK energy supply while cutting UK carbon emissions by 34% by 2020 [the EU target] = £233.5 billion;

The cost of this per UK household, estimated at approx. 26 million households = up to £8,980 per household;

Approximate cost of forcing down the UK contribution to world carbon emissions by 0.1% = c. £38 billion/0.1% cut;

Predictable impact on climate change = Nil [the minuscule UK changes can have no predictable effect on climate change whatsoever, and they will be massively offset at the world scale, thus reducing the UK percentage contribution in any case].

This is going to end in tears; it is the economics and the politics of the madhouse...."

All this "green" crap is just that.....it's crap!

The world has been having up & down "cycles" of CO2 for as long as we have bothered to keep records, and guess what.....we are still here (although i'm f**king amazed we have lasted this long to be honest).

Wasn't it only last year that we were being told that it was cows that were responsible for the bulk of noxious crap that goes in to the atmosphere?
As the cows (who have been here pretty much since day 1) are destroying the planet more than cars, wouldn't it make sense to eradicate them first?

I'm not disputing that human activity is having an effect on the levels of greenhouse gases (which we need BTW), but I don't believe for one minute it is all the doom & gloom we read about every day.

Agreed, when I was younger there was talk of a forthcoming new Ice Age, even now the experts disagree. Roll Eyes

Just caught the end of a programme that said that in 3 days in America, following 911 no planes were allowed to fly, stopped warm up instantly, so lets lay of the cars and ground a aeroplanes........ Thumbs Up!

I read the same a few months ago, and I thought the same as you....if it was such an improvement in such a short time frame because transportation (that relied on fossil fuel) was stopped, then the answer is simple.....ban fossil fuels.

You and I both know that will never happen though, because there are too many oil execs and too many politicians involved in backhanders for that.

Do you truly believe we wouldn't have that as an affordable viable option by now (along with battery & nuke power) if we were really screwing the planet by burning fossil fuels?

LPG is already having the granny screwed out of it in duty (although it's meant to be a clean alternative), just wait until it becomes really popular and then watch the price of that rise as well.

Supply & demand mate.
The more the populace think they need it, the more they will get screwed for it.
