All drill points have a dimple/pimple to mark the spot. All your elcectrics end at  plug atthe back edge of the boot, under the trim alonf with a permanent 12 volt for caravan fridge & charging.  Thumbs Up!

Been part of the Spanish MOT test for a long time now. Large farm trailers likewise get MOT'd. Its a good idea. You don't want to be on the receiving end of a breakaway caravan or trailer load of olives!

One thing that isn't so good with Spanish MOT's is their dislike of anything non standard. They didn't like the Elites 225 tyres and wider rims compared to the normal 195 tyres. I had to show them the handbook and only then would they accept them and entered it in the logbook (V5). God help me if I turn up next year with some 17inch rims!

EU standardisation coming to a garage near you soon.

My MOT tester mentioned this when I got the Westfield tested.

He said the requirement to have postcode and manufacturer printed on a number plate is also rearing its' ugly head again although he said there'd be a row about that and it'd probably get postponed again. Grin

Don't know the details but they are adding trailers to the list of "vehicles" needing an IVA test too !!!

That seems reasonable considering the state of some of the trailers you see out and about Thumbs Up!  but there is something telling me that the  whole requirement to legislate for everything we tend to engage in doing is getting out of hand Undecided Undecided

How would it work - would every trailer need to be registered and have documents to prove its provenance? Roll Eyes  sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare to me and one which we will all have to pay for in fees Thumbs Up!

Again drawing on the Spanish experience, I think it is right and proper that trailers are tested. Apart from carrying 10,000 kilos or more of olives on torturous, super hilly roads they also transport caterpillar tractors in them.

We bought a small new unbraked trailer and it came with a log book (v5 equivalent) and the chassis number stamped on it and a VIN plate but no MOt test requirement (yet!).

I agree with the concern over extra cost, paperwork etc but methinks it is the way things are going. One day youngsters of today will say "do you remember when you could choose how fast you went by pressing the accelerator pedal!" Smiley Smiley Smiley

You have only to witness the SVA to IVA changeover to see how likely it is to be totally mis-managed!  Even now, a month after the official changeover, they are still revising the regs and testers are unsure of the interpretation of many !!!!
