Is the level low again?

Did it rev a bit more before going in to limp?

OK, expect a fault code 8 - incorrect ratio.  Assuming oil level OK (and checked in the correct way), I fear the box may be terminal  Cry

As TB says you may need to get it plugged into tech2 to read off codes.
When mine went the symptons were.
From cold start, no problems. Drive ok up & down the gears.
Then after a couple of miles when car had started to warm. The check autobox light would come on & the car would go into limp mode.
Pulling off the car would rev with little in the way of drive unless you manually shilfted. But would only go up as far as 3rd.
One noticebale thing was, when i sat on my drive & started it from cold, i would sit ther with it idling until it warmed up with no problems. Then I would manually go through the gears. When the cvar got hot the fault would re-occur.
One tell tale was there was a hydraulic sound coming from under the car as i went from 1st to second.
After drawing a blank with my usual garage & a "specialist" who was only interested in changing the box not pinpointing the fault, I opted to change the box myself.
Took my time over it and so far a year later all still good.
