Has anyone got experience of using VAG-COM with the Omega?

My previous Omega was a 1994 with the ALDL interface that only talks to the tech1.

I now have a 2003 2.6 V6 Omega, I also have VAG-COM. VAG-COM claims to be able to talk EOBD. I will have a play tomorrow & report back. If anyone has had any previous success I would be pleased to hear of it.

I assume that if it does work it will just act as a code reader.

Aug 2009 at 00:02 vagcom, as its name suggests, is for VAG cars. Even if you do manage to get it to connect (unlikely I reckon), I suspect you will meaningless results back. Pedal trick is the easy way to get codes from your 2.6

I connected VCDS (the new name for VAG-COM) to my Omega today using the Ross Tech interface.

It did complain about some communication errors but it found the engine and gearbox ECU's and reported them to be free of codes.

I then ran 'live values' and got sensible live values when I pressed the throttle pedal (awkward when the fuse box lid is open).

Going to ask the supplier/developer about the communicationss errors before I try anything alse but it looks promising

Aug 2009 at 10:50 Although you may get some results by connecting VAG-COM, and a similar scenario if you use Tech2 on an Audi, due to some of the data that can inadvertantly be overwriiten by the use of the incorrect diagnostic equipment, I cannot stress how serious it can be if you make a mistake. Keep VAG-Com for the VW and Audis Tech2 for Vauxhalls
