Quote:
LOL -- I remember one trip, from Worthing to Taunton, in the 850 cc mini:  Just this side of Salisbury the exhaust manifold split, taking the accelerator return spring with it. So I travelled the last part of the journey on full revs with effectively no exhaust system!!!

It might have been a simple, old fashioned, engine, but it survived (many modern blocks would have gone to engine heaven in short order).

For a few miles I had an 850 cc hot rod -- complete with real flames !!!!!

I've had minis, I remember in a mini show I went to there was a competition to guess how long an engine would last at maximum revs. They gave up after a couple of hours cos it just kept going!!

Anyone ever owned a Hyundi Coupe.  My old neighber used to have a 2.0 one.  Never spoke to them so dont know what it was like, but wondering if any one had had the V6 version or maybe driven one, if so, were they any good.

Had a grey import 1.8 model (it was a 1999 version).
A bit agricultural under the bonnet, but a lovely 130bhp engine - lots of toys inside, but the finish was a bit old fashioned. Huge boot, lots of room for front passengers. Very reliable, but parts were sometimes expensive but never difficult to get. Good value for money - I enjoyed it - did consider one of the newer ones recently but settled on the Omega - the V6 auto coupes were too pricey for me. Thumbs Up!

Also - watch out on the early Coupe V6 manuals - the clutch was not up to the job, and suffered premature failure. Later models and replacements have an upgraded part, so should be okay. Autos & selectronic obviously don't suffer this - Original clutch would typically last less than 50k Sad
Also, the alarm on early models (2002+ shape) was fitted by the UK importer rather than the manufacturer - the company that made the alarm has now gone bust, so if they fail (and they do!), it's a complete replacement as spares are not available - it interfaces to the locking ECU, so means new remotes etc. Sad
