At this hour, on this day, in this year I remember with humility all those fine men and women with whom I served during some very dangerous times:

To those who are no longer present;

To those who still suffer as a result of their service;

To those families who have been denied the comfort of their loved ones;

To those who care for we who remain;

I give thanks and offer prayer.

Let us hope, at this time, that their sacrifices were not in vain and that the freedom from tyranny for which they valiantly fought will stay with us.
