Few European countries have that rule - any accident involving a bicycle (not motorbike) and a powered vehicle, its the vehicle driver's fault. No ifs/buts, end of.   Its unclear if that is still the case if the car driver is not in the car (parked).


To me, it breaks a fundamental rule - blame should be put on the person responsible for the accident, not on a previously predecided party. Prejudice, I thought, was banned in this country.


Whilst I'm the first to admit that many car drivers are arrogant tosspots who think they can do what they like because the lazy tossers get up too late to get to work on time (a particular hate of mine is the smartarse beemer drivers who go all the way around small rounadbouts because they are too effing lazy to queue in left lane), they have been tested to be able to drive to a minimum standard before being allowed unsupervised on the public highway.  Cyclists should have to do likewise.

We have a generation of kids now who have no road sense, as they have been molly-coddled by this bubble-wrap, modern parenting. Is it any wonder they get knocked down.

If the car driver is automatically at fault can you imagine the amount of where there's blame there's a claim Kamikasi  cyclists that would take advantage. Plus you know who would pay for it through increased insurance premiums

In Worcester some one WILL get done for this.

So far

1) Chav crosses road on chavcycle and stops infront of the car in front of me to force them to stop.

2) Chav crosses road in front of me without stopping - chav got annoyed with my comments. Chav was having with an ambulance later as I think he had knocked a pedestrian over.

3) Moron got annoyed with me calling him a W***er and to buy some lights when it was dark and he just negotiated a roundabout without being hit.

4) Moron on A422 found new position of leg on verge bike at 45deg absolutely terrified expression when just avoided being hit by works landlords Jaguar. I was following and saw the night time no light rider get terrified.

2 days later noticed him under a lit section - no lights.

As you see why should law abiding drivers have to deal with law breaking chavs and stupid gits with no lights.

I hate cyclists who break all these laws . Should I congratulatel the cyclist lit up like a Christmas tree I see down the lanes as he is very visible!
