Sky Package
14. Nov 2009 at 16:55

I've just turned over everything I own to Sky and gone for the HD box with Broadband and phone calls , I do like Sky when you phone them real people pick up the phone.

I will be left with an old Sky+ box and I want to know if there is anything you can buy that will allow me to use it upstairs in the bedroom.

I know Sky do Multiroom for another tenner a month, but this seems a rip off.

Any suggestions?

you could get a quad LNB and put the other feed upstairs, and use it as a decoder. You won't be able to get Sky up there as its all run off your viewing card.

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

never bothered with our old sky+ box. We have wired other tv's in the house with a sky digi eye and another remote. Allows viewing and direct controle of the hd box, via the second rf tv out on the back, in other rooms. No sub, free, apart from digi eye and extra remote.

Only restriction with that i guess is you can only watch the same channel in each room?

Well, how can i put it? it saves me bringing the double bed down the stairs to the front room if i want to watch telly in bed.  Roll Eyes   Lips Sealed

And saves Mrs G. bringing the cooker in to the front room from the kitchen if she is cooking and wants to watch "stenders" while she cooks tea.   Roll Eyes   Lips Sealed

And if we want to change channel while we are watching telly in bed or in the kitchen it saves us having to get out of bed and come down stairs to the front room to change channel   Roll Eyes   Lips Sealed

Mr B is pulling my puddin again me thinks.  Grin

Maybe not get sky, unless you get extra cards. but you can have/buy a one off freeview type card that allows the old box to tun as a freeview box for free to air channels, and in the case of the Sky+ plus then record them as well.

Plus if your main card is paired to all boxes you can use it in any of the sky boxes in your home.

Bit of copper grease on the floor makes it much easier to slide the cooker into the living room, you know. Thumbs Up!

Grin and if applied to the stairs i could surf down on the mattress. In fact, as the mattress is two halfs zipped together, i could give the Mrs the other half and race her down. Hours of fun. All thanks to sky  Grin Cheesy

Can you actually do this?  I thought it was one card to one box - be very happy if wrong1

Sky will sell you a freeview card for your box, which is seperate to your subscription. One off fee (like with a digibox)

Yeah, I know about the freeview viewing card, but can you actually have a single (subscription) viewing card paired to more than one box?  Huh
