Mercedes to take over Brawn GP
16. Nov 2009 at 13:34

Folowing the takeover, Brawn GP will now be known as Mercedes Grand Prix but with Ross Brawn still as team pricipal. As Jenson is out of contract, they favour 2 German drivers to take the seats for 2010 - probably Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg. Now looks likely that Jenson will join Lewis at McLaren.

its a good move for Jenson, i doubt Brawn could have continued their performance in 2010. They got lucky on a risk take with the rules early on.

Very true, but then Ross Brawn has always had a knack for his "interpretation" of the rules and coming up trumps. Possibly a good move for Jenson but I just can't see him outpacing Lewis with the same machinery. I think he's more likely to do well in the championship than if he stayed at Brawn Mercedes.

Again, very true, they are both excellent drivers, Jenson is a bit more consistant, but Lewis can pop those amazing laps in when needed.

But then again, two British drivers, in a British lead team going for the title can't be bad!

Indeed, quite a mouth watering prospect. Thumbs Up!

Imagine if Jenson and Lewis had Braun as team principle.

I think Lewis has been in the dark a bit with out Ron Dennis, and Jenson needed a team change which is why I think he did so well this year

I must admit to Lewis and Jenson being my 2 favoured drivers at the moment and would mind either of them  for 2010 champian and both UK drivers.

However statedgy will most likely be the key point next year with the new eules being brought into play.  Especially no refuling.  Statedgy is Ross Brauns strong point.

Either way it should be an interesting year.

could be a bad thing for mclaren.Mercedes already part own mclaren so what happens to it now that they own their own team outright, will they pull their money/engines out ?....will they expect mclaren to act as Mercedes B team and not give the works team a hard time on the track ? Undecided

I believe they're contracted to McLaren for the next 6 seasons and don't forget that Brawn won while McLaren were the team of choice for Mercedes.

Historically, contracts tend to be not worth the paper their written on in F1.If Mercedes wanted out of Mclaren Im sure they could find a way. Will be interested to see how things pan out in the longer term.

But not good for McLaren if he's definitely going there.

Lewis works best only when he's got someone pushing him, and Jenson pointless isn't that man.

McLaren *need* Kimi, however the attraction for the No1 on the nose of the car may well prove too seductive for the surrey team's title sponsor.  Cry

This years and last years world champions in the same team, I think will be very entertaining, no team rules, they both go for a win, so may they better man win, unless they become idiots and start dueling with each other and end in disaster for them and the team.

I still believe a lot of the races will be won with the best stratedgy, as I said, it will be an interesting year, hopefully.   Roll Eyes

Now listen here Mr "I hate Formula 1", how on earth can you come to that conclusion. Jaime, it shows just how little you know about the sport!! How do you suppose he racked up 10 podium finishes when he moved to BAR in 2004 trouncing his team mate ex-world champion Jacques Villeneuve? Then the car was rubbish under Honda but he still managed to wring the odd result out of it. Then, after most drivers would have given up, Brawn gives him a decent car and he wins the World Championship!!.........and that makes him a loser?? Shocked I think not.
