General gist of this is that ebay is good for buyers but the new rules make it poor for sellers who are dealing with dishonest or unrealistic buyers.

I worked really hard to build up my reputation as a seller and do not want to lose this by closing my account, so I just use ebay to sell very occasionally now, instead of using them and paying fees every week.

Their loss.

Ebay has used its' popularity top become a search engine and advertising site for volume sellers rather than a forum for members of the public to buy and sell their junk, IMHO.

I'd rather give stuff away on freecycle than go to the hassle of trying to sell on Ebay for pennies. It's just not worth the hassle unless you're in the business of selling volumes of stuff IMHO. Their loss, not mine.

We now do a car boot sale every 6 months or so

Problem with them is that I return with more junk. Roll Eyes

I worked hard to to be a good seller & buyer also Cruisetopoland, and both being the seller & buyer I had timewasters like a lot out there, but lately I've had my fair share of it all, and the late changes that ebay have made, and now the changes with the fee's I've called it a day.

It appears to be having problems tonight, cant search for anything.Wonder if they borrowed the OOF server from Jaime. Roll Eyes Cheesy
I have been lucky so far,had 107 trades, both buying and selling without any problems.I am watching a car which finishes tomorrow, and am reluctant to bid.The buyer only has 8 feedback score, all from buying, and it will be cash on collection (a 4 figure sum) from Southall in London.
I have heard some horror stories recently about people turning up with cash to collect cars and ending up getting a kicking and the money taken off them. Undecided

I think it down to what you sell; mine is mostly odd or rare collectables that ebay has the market for, hence why I put up with the new nonsense occasionally.  The general stuff I used to sell now goes elsewhere to protect my feedback score.

The stupid thing is that ebay have upset so many sellers-many have left like you, or now sell less like me.
Why did they do it??

Well I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm going to make a prediction here and say that in 7months time, there’s going to be a news report, and that the media will be announcing something really big that’s going to rock ebay into suddenly changing their ways !!.

Yes ebay charges fees as does paypal which i only use for low priced items buying or selling. Ebay listing fees are equivalent to advertising in the Auto trader, local rag each of which are pitched at a limited coverage, & you don't have to put up with the 3rd party canvassers who phone & ask you for £80 regardless of how you worded your ad. Angry I buy & sell OLD 50/60/70's diecast on ebay. You rarely see these at booties, the only alternative is petrol to a toyfair plus door fees & stall fees if you're selling so it takes a while to break even. I've sold 3 cars on ebay each of which ended early with cash at the door. I've found items i'd never find in a shopping centre, bought xmas & b'day pressies from the comfort of my own home, even arranged with the seller to send direct.
Yes ebay has it's issues but i can find/ sell/ buy almost anything so easily so am sticking with it. Smiley
