[size=10]Come on people! I think some need of you to get out more. There's loads of examples all round us everyday of women, men, children who work hard and struggle everyday to overcome difficulties and hardship for their families and for strangers.

What about the mothers who work 12 hour shifts and then look after their family when they get home?

What about the men (of an earlier generation) who faced fear and death to fight for their countrymen - through no choice of their own because they were conscripted?

What about all the mothers and fathers who would  - and do -happily sacrifice their lives for their children?

Probably there's many on this forum who fit into these categories. If you can only be reminded of how fortunate you are etc by a YouTube posting, then (as above) I suggest you look around you a bit better, and get out more.

Off soapbox now.

kev, dont think its that simple. Of course there are examples like this all around us and at all times-but the simple fact is that we get so easily immersed in our own lives/work/problems that we forget and it takes a reminder like this posting to bring it to the fore again. Surely you were touched by it yourself? Maybe I just get more sentimental (as well as grumpy!)as I get older Undecided

...are you suggesting therefore that this thread is unworthy of attention?

Should you be so I find that to be a rather jaundiced view, which is most unfortunate Sad Sad

Yes, there are examples of all sorts of heroism everyday, all around us --- but each one is not diminished by another. And thr recognition of one also recognises the other.

We see hate and selfishness all around us too, but the love in this clip outshines it all, if only for a brief moment, such inspiration keeps the candle of hope burning brighter.

So, so, true & very well put Holy Count. I feel truly humbled by that short clip, and it brought into sharp focus something normally blurred by all the rotten dross we are bombarded with these days. The Human Race, at it's best is insurmountable and will survive any trail or tribulation, despite the best efforts of the wicked, the evil and the weak willed (the latter are usually  but not exclusively, Politicians) everywhere. Cry

I didn't intend the post to make any sort of "statement"....  I just found it truly amazing....

For the last 13 months I have worked in the court system, and believe me I have seen some "dross" that is supposedly called "human" ... that video and Dave's comments just struck a chord.... and for once it was a nice one ...   Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

I felt that to be quite evident and thought this piece to be uplifting and worthy of attention.

How anyone found to the contrary puzzles me, quite frankly Sad

Zulu77 - you asked "..are you suggesting therefore that this thread is unworthy of attention?"

(sorry I don't yet know how to do the highlight / reproduce thing).

I did not comment on the absolute or relative magnitude of what this man has done.

I did not comment on how worthy the thread was of attention.

What I did comment on was that some of the replies suggest either a low sensitivity to everyday human endeavour (because a response can only be triggered by unusual endeavour glossily packaged) OR a lack of awareness of everyday human endeavour (because a response can only be triggered by having something put in your lap).

My plea was for people to be MORE aware and MORE sensitive to what's going on around them everyday - not only will it contibrute to a net greater understanding, but may also set their own troubles into context.

I hope this answers your question.
