I think it might be an image thing -  the Omega dash does look quite refined, some digital dashes look pants

Easier to clock (sorry I mean 'apply mileage correction) a digital mileometer than a mechanical one.

Only if the backlight is f**ked.

I'm inclined to agree with Mark, if anything it will be down to type approval (digital speedo's are too fast in the response stakes, and as a result they can produce very wild figures when travelling at anything other than an established speed).

Spot on  Thumbs Up!

Every car dealer in the world would have a go at the mechanical speedo.
Electronic dashes of the late eighties/early nineties meant the dealers had to pay people an absolute minimum of £150 a go to give the car a haircut (very easy money at the likes of Wanno/Blackbushe/etc when it only took 10 mins tops with a laptop to dial the new mileage in).

People do it for less than £40 all day long, but back in the day you paid what was asked by the man with the laptop  Wink

Changing over in life would be expensive, as people have said for retooling. Omega was goign through design probably from around 1990/91, virtually nothing had digital odos then.

Does it matter?

So did the Senator, but the LCD's where way to chunky and looked outdated in the 90's

More modern ones with back lights tend to work better. Does not really bother me
