Depends how old the car was. Originally digital was standard & analogue was optional. They later turned it around as digital wasn't that popular. Tongue

Mine was a K plate, it was qwerky, i kinda liked it, the fuel gauge needed to be more accurate though, it needed to be like the rev style, rather than just showing gallons.

Seam to remember when switched to kph it showed litres left, rather than gallons

If K plate, it was an option by then ... like mine was. Galls did change to litres when in KPH, never had a problem with the gauge, how accurate is the needle on any other analogue gauge? You always had the miles to go on the trip computer as a back up.

Cold mornings was the issue, i would start it, say there was 2 gallons in it, get to the end of the road and it would start flashing "- -" Grin

Would have loved that 24v engine in my facelift, even with DTM's views Roll Eyes

Silky smooth, very economical

- Great S6 noise, one i had stood still for 2 years, 2 oil changes later, and the oil stayed super clean for 4k Shocked

Ah, but proven that the v6 is quicker, and was carrying more weight - yours lots more rust the faster it went....

Is that a long winded way of saying that the Senator was still a nicer car than its sucessor? ....... Roll Eyes

Let me think for a minute - Omega is faster, smoother, rides better, handles better, more comfortable, better equipped, unbelievably less prone to rust....

...what do you think?

In a nut shell Albs!!!!! Thumbs Up!

My Omega's trip computer is currently sat at 20.6mpg ..... it unfortunately doesn't get much use these days, but my Senator used to average around 22/23 mpg when it was used most days to go to work & back (around 8 miles there & back) .... I can't deny it had rear arches issues ... but who cares!!! Thumbs Up!

Nope, Omega every time for me. Remove the rose tints, you'll see that whilst good in its day, that was a long time ago...

Although I only had 2 Senators, a 12v & a 24v, I had them both for a lot of years ... around 10 yrs .... I still say that there are certain aspects of Senator ownership that is far far better than Omega ownership. I agree that some things of the Omega are superior to the Senator ... it should be , it's a newer car, but the Omega is too complicated for its own good. There are various cars here that are off the road for problems that are probably nothing more than a failed sensor of some description .... DBW car with the pre cat problems are examples that newer isn't always better! Thumbs Up!

And I'd still like my all sing all dancing Elite driver's seat to be lower ... like my Senator's was Grin

I had both my Omega & Senator side by side on the drive, the Omega was a non-runner (crank sensor / DIS pack problems) & I was using the Senator till I got the Omega sorted ....... Huh

Icould have spent the £5k i bought the Omega for on the Senny's body work Thumbs Up!

Relay? Start inhibit relay?
When I sold my Senator, the start inhibit circuit was 'fudged' to by-pass the wiring to the gearbox switch, which unfortunately meant it could be started in any gear! the only problem I had in 6 yrs of owning it. Thumbs Up!

Its a sad fact we have to have 3 way emissions control Cry

But all those alledgedly over complex sensors (which they aren't) allow gm to squeeze more performance and better emmissions. And decent economy (my 3.0 auto averaging over 25mpg despite being regularly 'exercised' Roll Eyes

Definitely start inhibit circuit ... I fitted a by-pass wire Roll Eyes

& didn't have any further problems with the starter circuit.

Maybe either I must have the worlds best Omega, or you have a dog Undecided

Always wanted a 24v Senator from the first one I ever saw on the road. Until I started driving them. So never owned one, but have been lucky (?) enough to drive a wide variety of them (mostly 3.0 24v ones). Not one has been up to the standard of my daily drive.

As to boot space, remember only post 98 elites have the shelf. That said, still reckon senny has better boot spacewise, even with the stupid CD mounting.

I agree that we will have to agree to disagree Thumbs Up!
