How to tell a story
24. Nov 2009 at 09:50

My daughter just sent me this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=vOhf3OvRXKg#t=00

It's apparently from "Ukraine's got talent" and was the winner.

Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II.

It lasts 8 minutes but is well worth it if you have time IMHO.

Excellent-nice post  Thumbs Up!

Amazing talent.

Whatever happened to excellent Ukranian barmy tin-foil Eurovision singers that should have won in 2007 (or 2008??)?

Seen it before, but didn't know she was Ukrainian. Watched it with my missus and we both were in tears   Cry Having gone through a war ourselves, it was very moving.

Saying that reminds me.  We were in France with friends a couple of years ago and they took us to Oradour-sur-Glane, a Martyr Village.  That was shocking as I had no idea these villages had been preserved.  Before my time but lessons need to be learned. Sad

Just had a look at some pictures of Oradour-sur-Glane. It's really sad and shocking and at the same time amazing that they've preserved it as is; good lessons to be learnt for next generations... Will have to visit there some time...

Fantastic. It's obviously still quit a poignant subject there. Even for the young, shame we can't say the same here Angry

Excellent post Thumbs Up!-a very talanted young lady with a performance made all the more moving courtesy of its subject matter. Seen a few people use these illuminated sandscreens now, but whilst their techniques are equally good none have been so moving as this. So much of the horrors of the past are still in living memory and we forget/ignore  them at our peril so its good to see a 24yr old doing this
