Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre

Went to check that out yesterday with a few mates, its a tad further to drive than Milton Keynes, but its new so thought would go see what its like.

The slope is not as wide as MK, but the snow is soooo much better, all soft  Smiley Has not got the huge chunks of ice that MK has.

Paid £27 for 'two hours' but like MK they don't bother to check passes, went in at 2, went out at 5:30  Roll Eyes

Needed a bit of a tune up, not been snowboarding since January, all came back to me, looking forward to hitting the Alps in 6 weeks  Cool

As for indoor slopes, Landgraaf in Holland still wins hands down!

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

Meribel - Three Valleys. We get a 3 valley pass which is Meribel, Courchevel, Val Thoren.

We use SkiWeekends (even though we board) its £199 for 7 days (5 on snow) thats half board hotel (continental breakie and a 3 course dinner)

Its via coach, leaves London Victoria late Saturday evenign, gets there Sunday morning, and you hit the snow (i usually do on my first run  Grin)

Coach leaves Friday evening.....

Not going to lie the journey is a bit of a b!tch, but some films on the iPod touch, some booze and you soon sleep it off!

Gee £199 is cheap!  Thumbs Up! not sure about the coach travel though! I'll have to check if they have an accommodation only option too as a half board hotel itself would be more than that!

What I usually find best is to get a 5+1 ski pass where you can ski all week at your local resort plus one day at the rest. Can't be bothered spending couple of hours on the lifts to get to the other resort and back more than once  Wink

I have the grimmest memories of coach trips to the alps from my school days. Never again.

BTW: one of my mates discovered that necking a bottle of vodka on the ferry and then crouching with your head in a bin liner for the rest of the journey doesn't help.  Roll Eyes In case you were thinking of trying it. Grin

I'd rather sit on a log-haul flight to Calgary, drive to Banff where everything is about 1/2 the price of any ski resort in Europe, where people queue politely for lifts and the staff actually care what proportion of time you spend skiing against being d*cked about, etc...  Wink

Harison - Yup they do hotel only, i think, but can you really get there cheaper than £99 all in? We took a load of snacks, they play a film anyway, so its not too bad really. Flight option came out over £150 more.

Kev - We tried beers last time, made me sleep but the side affect is i had to get up to take a wizz, and on the bus that means disturbing the person next to you  Grin

Think small amounts of sprits should be good, enough to get you sleepy, but not huge amounts.

My cousin invented the snow machine that is used in all these indoor ski centres.
