Heating Oil
28. Nov 2009 at 12:22

I have just purchased 1000 litres of heating oil....in order to keep the Optimist family warm this winter.
After an hour spent trawling the yellow pages the best price I could come up  with was 36.6pence per litre plus VAT. Undecided Undecided

Sod's law dictates.........in the next week or so .....there will be a huge drop in energy prices Grin Wink

How much do you pay for heating oil?......if you live in the back of beyond as I do. Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

I have a 'drop-chute' when the kerosene price is high and funds are short: a local petrol station sells Kerosene 'by the litre': presently 40.1 p/litre (incl. VAT) from an old forecourt petrol pump....I take 5 x 20 litre jerry-cans there in the car and that 100 litres puts me on until the wholesale-price is more favourable (or I have more money to afford large delivery).
Wholesale, in these parts, '28 second' kerosene is 38.7 p/litre (incl. VAT): but, min order for a tanker drop is 1000 litres. Cry

why don't you go round local Roll Eyesgarages and collect old engine oil and mix it 65% gas oil to 35% engine oil.
we had a heater in our works garage burning engine/diesel oil mix its a bit smokey when starting up from cold Smiley.
just be carful not to get caught with epa  Smiley

Must confess I haven't looked yet as we still have about 500L but I will say that the price normally drops just after I've had 1600L delivered Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Last time it dropped I would have saved somewhere in the region of £200 Shocked Shocked Angry Angry Cry Cry
