If the company involved doesn't want to pay out (and let's face it, I can't think of one that does pay willingly), then you can bet your 'dangle berries' that once they see a wire to the alarm system has been cut (and yes, you can see that AFTER a fire), then your insurance could well be null & void (on the basis you told them the car had a completely standard factory alarm that hasn't been modded).

Your only problem, as far as I can see, is that there's a gaping hole where it should be. Could cause problems in the case of an insurance claim. You could get one off a a scrapper I suppose, but I wouldn't bother wiring it in.

After being annoyed by the incessant beeping with my two omegas, I just disconnected them and forgot them.

The permanent feed is fused only by an 80 amp fusible link, IIRC, - yet the wire in the loom I wouldn't trust with over 5 amps.

I would advise anyone with a power sounder over 5 years old in their car to either remove it, replace it, replace the batteries in it or fit some inline fuse holders.

It is a very good idea kevin to fit an inline fuse,but which wire is it out of the four.Scary to think that two small batteries can do that,just be thankful l-jay that no one was injured.Happened to me once in my renault 21 turbo,as a live wire in the engine bay was earthing on the body and melting the fuel line,and just caught it before it went right through,otherwise i would not have been here now probably. Shocked

I give up with you. I think there's a feckin hole between your ears sometimes. I have a very good memory, and if you care to trawl back a few years, you'll find that I was one of the first to post about this problem, and you were one of the first to follow up on the advice given. All of a sudden, you're the expert.
This was about the time when people were explaining to you what an engine was.

Pop a standard battery in to one of those chargers that you get when you buy the 4x AA rechargeable batteries.

Not only will the resultant explosion pretty much f**k the socket the charger as well as the socket it is plugged in to, there is also a very good chance it will remove 6" or so of "wall" around the socket if your house is a recent new build.
