There many Goods Trains that go past were i live & i counted 25 trucks on the back of a coal train the other day Shocked
Each one means one less truck on the road & to me as a driver that's a good thing.

Most wagon drivers can't judge how far off a car is when they change lanes on a motorway so they've got no chance with that one.

I can see some sense in these, if kept on Motorways from local distribution points.
I saw this on the news this morning and the company was going to 'test the law' not sure what has happened since though.....

But there's the other problem, a few wagons travelling at 56 mph and taking miles to overtake each other get 2 lanes and you in your 4 pot never pulling over when you've finished overtaking hogging the outside lane. I'd rather take the A roads Grin

Police stopped it as its longer than the law allows for UK roads, but weight limit is ok. They wanted to get exposure.

Your right though, long haul motorway distribution to distribution, they could work well. Not sure about loading of that front compartment though Undecided

A valid C+E licence is all that is required to drive one of these.(Class 1 HGV to the old and bold) as I have one I wonder if they do test drives?

An ill thought out idea that came from behind a desk instead of behind the wheel from the same half wits that don't realize that a load they've "cubed" won't physically fit. Yes i understand the annoyance in one truck overtaking another @ 1 or 2 mph more but if you were behind the wheel every day/night you'd do the same.
Saving the best til last, if you're a cyclist & try to make 2 lanes into 3 by sneaking between the left of a truck & the kerb instead of waiting like everybody else then don't go running to Mummy for a plaster when you get squished you frickin' idiot. You should'nt have been there in the first place. Roll Eyes

That's true regarding overtaking, if your going that little bit faster on the approach to a hill, then hang it out in the center lane, because it's a certainty that someone will make you slow up & then you've lost your momentum Angry
I've sat right up to the kurb side to stop the cyclists from coming up the inside, but then the buggers mount the pavement Grin Wait in line like everyone else Tongue

Dont know what all the fuss is about they 've been running double trailers in sweden for donkey of years .OK they take what seems like ages to overtake ,but if they were only allowed to operate under certain conditions ,cant see the problem with it .

Agreed G but try telling many of them - you'll be branded as a creator of congestion, a polluter of the planet and an all-round faceless practitioner of capitalism.

Many cyclists now consider themselves to be the personal representatives, upon this earth, of the Deity .
