Huh - Its only internet, if people still want cable TV, they still have to pay him  Thumbs Up!

The free service is quite slow, you have to pay for higher speeds

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

Very limited "free" side .. but of course .. you can pay for more ....

....................including free connection to the internet, free line rental and connection charge, and borough-wide movement, while staying online. The public will be able to access the internet and download emails for free but usage will be limited.
Subscribers will also be able to sign up for 20Mb upgrades for significantly less per month than major broadband competitors following a free three-month trial, while there will be pay-as-you-go options so visitors to the town can benefit from the Wi-Fi network .............

Just how limited is the big question .. Smiley

How fast is the technology?
As fast as people want to pay for. We are launching with up to 20Mb which is very fast. However, radio signals do not travel well through brick and concrete. If a user has thick walls and small windows (or tries to use it in a basement) it may be difficult to get a strong signal. We will be supplying wireless repeaters that can be installed in windows to boost the signal around homes.

Do you expect the network to make a profit?
Yes.

So ..... if it's free .. how do those statements make sense .. Smiley  It WON'T be free, not for anything useable.. Smiley

I think it depends on how you use the internet.....i will probably still keep my 8M home connection, as its basically only £5/month (actually £15/month, but i get free landline rental, thats got to be worth £10/month)
But for when im out and about with my lappy.....it will probably mean i can stop using my payg 3G dongle....1G's (£15) worth of data lasts me about 3months.....tho i only surf web sites and use for emails, apart from that any downloading including AV updates is done when im on my wireless network at home  Wink

Something like this would be great if you're only visiting the area of country (like me) for short periods. But then again I just bought a vodafone dongle last summer, which makes life easier.

I remember when broadband first came out about 2001. BT were taking the biscuit then - priced at over 50 quid per month back then.  Shocked
