Weekend V6 progress
13. Dec 2009 at 20:45

Heads fully cleaned up and assembled

3.2 manifolds fitted, using genuine multilayer gaskets, and all new studs/nuts.

Heads fitted to car, and torqued down.

Serviced followers fitted (Yes AndyB, Entwood etc, all 24 of them  Cool )

3.0 cams fitted - would have been rude not to  Wink Then rear cover and sprockets fitted.

Spark plugs fitted - needed to be in at this point for cambelt setting up (needs to be done under compression).

Also fitted cambelt kit - a new Genuine item and new water pump. Set up using the SP kit (of course) - no problems there. Outer cover then refitted.

Coolant bridge and stat re-fitted all with new seals. B@stard bolt wasn't too much bother, but had to take me gloves off.

The front cable tray, all front pulleys and aux belt is fitted, as is the lower inlet manifold.

I also re-fitted both cam-covers, with new gaskets and O rings, genuine items.

Then fitted the NS cable tray, and had a general tidy up around the place.

It's pretty much there, just needs some finishing off, such as

*Shave some of the lip of the old cats, to fit the newer type of manifold

* Make up blanking plate for plenum - where EGR used to be. Fuge a bracket to hold the redundant valve, to prevent EML going crazy.

*Vacc pipes to route and new vacc tank to order

* Fit new coil pack and leads when they arrive

*various little connectors/clips/hoses.

* Fit the cats

* Fire 'er up  Cool

Hopefully, one more day will see it done  Thumbs Up!

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine
