there is a van. registered in one persons name, i am the only person insured to drive it. but someone else is driving it uninsured, and i am sure is on a ban. now i have only just found out this about half hr ago. where do i stand if he gets pulled up and is found to have no insurance and no licence and its not even his name. i am going round in the morning as im furious as what ive found out.

I take it you own this van? if so then if he is pulled you lose the van and have to pay through the nose to get it back... Undecided

no i dont own it, thats the thing. i thought it was a company insurance but its private, and i was supposed to drive it but i use mine so somebody without a licence is driving it and its been insured to get it on the database so  he doesnt get pulled over. i dont work for the bloke now. its just a single cover insurance and im the only one insured to drive it.

Who owns the van, a company or private individual, you? It is an offence to knowingly allow someone who does not have a valid licence or insurance to drive a vehicle you operate or own. If someone gets stopped by the police and it transpires they are not entitled to drive it, it'll be asked if they have the owners permission. Saying yes gets them in trouble (the owner) saying no admits TWOC.

Edit...ooops bit slow

I personally would contact the please and report this person for driving the van without the owners permission, and for possibly driving it whilst disqualified.  You will then be in the clear and have done your public duty.

Simples!! Wink Wink

PS Also let the owner know what has happened and the action you have taken.

Ok so you don't own it and the V5 is not in your name?

Do you pay for insurance for it out of your own pocket to drive it?

If it passes an ANPR van it will be ok as it is 'insured' but the driver is not.

If you have no financial commitments to the van, cancel the policy, unless you still use the van?

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

I would simply let the owner of the van know that he is breaking the law and, as you will not be driving the van ever again, it is pointless you being insured to do so.

If he doesn't take the hint................wheel brace Thumbs Up!
