0.038% is the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Less than Argon

And it is essential for plant growth.

I think all we need to do is plant trees and let nature do its best.

Oh and deal with particulates - a bigger threat than an essential to life gas

Agreed, does anyone remember the 'Plant a tree in '73' campaign to get us to plant more trees or I am just imagining it because no else I've spoken to remembers it.
And I know for a fact at least 2 of those were born pre '73 Grin

I have a few small conker trees as well - does anyone want one?

Yes, how and what etc.... Thumbs Up!

I was watching Newsnight last night.  They conducted a "scientific experiment" where a "scientist", watched by some Members of the Public, shone a couple of lamps onto two plastic bottles, one of which contained more CO2 than the other.  When the temperature rose higher in that bottle, some of the MoPs were converted to believing in climate change.

What the experiment actually proved was that:
  • the average man in the street has no understanding of science or the scientific method
  • some "scientists" are prepared to collude with the media in order to hoodwink the public
  • people cannot distinguish between climate change and the greenhouse effect, let alone understand the concept of a causal relationship

The saddest part was that a senior scientific advisor to the Government, complete with knighthood, stood there and watched this travesty and then spouted the usual Government climate change disaster line.

I really don't know how serious the increase in atmospheric CO2 is, and I don't know if it can trigger climate change, and I don't know what the consequences of climate change will be.  But I do know bad science I see it, and I do know when my intelligence is being insulted, and I do know when a bunch of fanatics is trying to bully me into seeing things their way. Sad

Exactly. Pointless patronizing telly strikes again. No wonder i never watch it.
Tony H has a point. We've had god knows how many climate changes over the years that affect different species & evolution in general (ice age) etc.
Suddenly everyone's an expert & we can put the world right if we stop doing this/start doing that.....

This is starting to sound like one of these blockbuster movies that i never watch...roll eyes smilie!

"President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ - “our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell....let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” He won a standing ovation.

"Prime Minister Gordon Brown has now offered, at the climate change conference in Copenhagen, a cut of 42 per cent in Britain’s carbon dioxide emissions by 2020.  That would be a massive increase from the current 20 per cent target.  This research note shows that meeting such a target could mean massive cuts in Britain’s national income."

"this stuff", as you put it, will affect the lives of each and every one of us in the UK. If you don't want me to post about this subject, just say so.  Sad

The public has no say what so ever in these matters, be it europe bull or current policys, every goverment just does what it wants when its in, no matter who is in. They are all the same, so i (personally) am not really interested in these European policys or climate bollox. There is still no real evidence that humans are affecting this climate, and thats its just not natural warming.

So i just get on doing the things i want to do, earning best money i can, and doing things i want to do  Smiley
