I'm well pleased with the maxscan .. fully OBDII, does full engine codes, limited transmission codes, limited live data but will reset the EML

Does not require any laptop or power source, plugs straight into OBDII socket and draws the power from there. Small enough to live in the boot and takes but seconds to use.

Cost me around £80 which equates to 1 visit to the stealers.  Beware ebay items .. many are chinese copies and don't work properly.

If you can justify that sort of money .... Sad

My reasoning is simple ... the Maxscan tells me about the things I can do something about ... with help from the forum admittedly.... if I need more than that then a visit to one of the forums experts with a tech2 will get me ....

1) someone who knows how to use the kit

2) good advice on how to rectify whatever they find

3) probably actual asisstance if 2) is beyond my capabilities/tool kit

I'd rather put a few quid that way than £600 on something I don't know how to use to its full potential .. Smiley

How much difference is there between the real Opcom and the ebay copy? I assume software is better on the genuine one?

I bought one on e-bay and it didn't work, complained to the seller and he upgraded me to one that works with any software that recognises usb devices and it works well. Ended up costing me around £40 and it has saved me more than that in resetting charges.

I believe the real ones are also considerably more reliable.

Just a quick reminder that we don't allow discussion of acquiring non-genuine code readers (or anything else for that matter) on this site.

We can all guess where to get illegal copies of such stuff, and thats a personal choice if individuals choose to do that - but no discussion here about it.

These companies, rightly, invest a lot of time and effort in protecting their products, and OPCOM in particular have been busy shutting down sites this year.  This site is registered in MY name, and have had more than enough legal battles this year with lawyers trying to shut us down.
