I'm back online again after some nice person cloned my bank card and emptied my bank account at then end of November Angry

So along with no money for bills or food (hence my not being here due to tinternet getting cut off along with everything else at home, almost including the gas and electric) the bank has given me 30% of my own money back pending the police investigation results. According to them the person responsible is in custody and I'm one of 7 people they can prove he's had and well into the low £100K in stolen money Angry

I've now got to wait until January for them to re-imburse the rest of my money Angry

So as you can all imagine I'm not a happy bunny atm

Trouble is, these feckers either don't realise what hardship they cause to people they rip off or they really don't give a toss and unfortunately it's more likely to be the latter. Sorry to hear this mate, I feel for you and your family.

got to be carefull these days, watch things like cash machines, the scumbags put very thin devices in front of the slot for you card, which clones it as it goes though. They look part of the machine so hard to tell, make sure its got the flashing green light.

Also tend to use well known retailers and use cash / debit cards with one man band shops, and not credit cards

They know where it was cloned.... a scumbag working at the local BP was cloning them. Problem with my bank is it's an old account I use for my salary etc to go in then back out into the bills account etc., and it's a Step account not a current unlike the bills account, so no real protection without prosecution. After much nagging the bank have put 30% ot the stolen amount back in in good faith, plus I've had another months salary go in since. So I'm on catch-up and skinflint xmas shopping duties today. Found out I've got tinternat back on again so thought it'd be rude not to pop in Wink

The bank should refund all of your money, after all it is their facilities you're using; which incidentially should be one step ahead of the thieves.

Same thing happened to me few months back but luckily when they attempted to buy something in Russia???!! our card was declined like always and we didn't lose anything.One advantage of having nowt in the bank. Tw*t you have to wait so long to get your money back though

This may give you some solice. A few years ago a friend of mine went over to a so called mate's house. When he went in,he found so called mate making cards froma swiping machine and video tape (This is back when it wasn't chips). My mate promptly kicked seven bells out of him. Thicko mate called the cops and which prompted my mate to 'inform' them where to find hundreds of cloned cards. Assault charged dropped and thicko spent some time at her majesty's pleasure! Grin

Dec 2009 at 17:44 The bank are obliged to reimburse all the money stolen, remind them that they are responsible for letting the money leave your account and by not having access you can claim interest and damages as a result. If you tell them that and get in touch with the financial ombudsman they should move quick to refund your dough
