Spark Plugs...

Evening all!
This is probably a really silly question but which is best, Vauxhall spark plugs or spurious, ie, NGK, Bosch etc, etc.
Huh

I alway use Vauxhall ones.
I've tried and fitted the more expensive ones and had no improvement (not that you would expect any) and in some cases poorer running (i.e. Bosch Super 4's)

What you have to consider is that
the Omega engines are pretty efficent so dont have massive cylinder temps unlike say a Turbo car
and the engine management setup really extends the plug life through tight control of timing and mixture

If you check a set of 40K plugs and measure the elctrode gap, it will be pretty much the same as the day it was fitted!

IMHO You can't sucessfully gap a set of OE plugs due to their design!   Huh  Huh  Huh

but I do agree with using Vauxhall plugs ... afterall they're only £15 a set  Wink  Wink  Thumbs Up!

Interesting!  Ok Vx it is then.  Thanks lads. A mechanic once told me plugs were important and as a general rule
Champions go in British Leyland, NGK's anything Japanese, Bosch anything German, and AC Delco in Vauxhall.
(This was a long while ago!)
As an aside, my GM engined diesel Astra had NGK heater plugs in and when I changed them for Vx ones starting was much improved!  Shocked

Probably because the old ones were goosed!

More often than not, the Vx OE glow plugs are Beru ones

Yes you're right about them being Beru, but the old ones were new! Somebody had changed them just before I bought the car.  Shocked

I'm impressed!  Shocked  Main Dealer parts cheaper than motor factors. 4 plugs, part no 9195109 GM branded, £14.92.  Thumbs Up!
Goody!
Not so good, bottom of rubber plug lead breaking off on 1 & 2. That was fun digging the bits out!  Sad
New plug leads then.........
