Ryanair to the rescue of BA, cheap filghts?
20. Mar 2010 at 16:49

Just tried to book a single fare from Warsaw (Poland) to London, for next week because of BA Strikes, thought I was doing well with Ryanair for a £32 fare till I tried to book it:-

1 x Flight Adult                144.00 PLN      £32
Taxes/Fees                      71.10 PLN       £16
1 x Web Check in             21.00 PLN       £5
1 x 1st Checked Bag         63.00 PLN      £14
1 x 2nd Checked Bag      147.00 PLN      £33
due to 15kg allowance
1 x Priority Boarding         16.80 PLN      No Thanks      £4
SMS confirmation               4.20 PLN      No Thanks      £1
1 pax Day (Insurance)      32.80 PLN      No Thanks      £7
Credit Card Admin Fee      21.00 Euros   £19
Ryanairs Crapy Exchange
Rate (calculated loss)                            £14

Total Cost                                            £133

So ended up booking on a Aer Lingus flight, two days earlier for £82 all in.  Thumbs Up!

As with so many air ticket offers there are just too many 'extras' that when added to the basic ticket price make it in the end a dear ticket! Angry Angry

Sounds very similar deal, I know Ryanair hide their real costs, but to charge 21 Euros to pay by Card and then charge you in the Currency where the Planes flying from topped with a crap exchange rate, is taking the P*ss.

you have to be careful with their flights, few years ago i flew return to Bergamo, Italy (Milan) for 2p including taxes and fee's!

Booked it another seat for a mate, fully prepared to cancel, but when it said £0.04 to bill to my credit card, i booked it!  Grin

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

I never thought I would support Ryanair but here goes.

They fly into Granada our nearest airport and Malaga. We, our friends and family use them a lot. Invariably they are early on arrival (generous flight time schedule). They deal effectively with their part of handling handicapped passengers Cheap fares do exist. The boss makes no secret about "no frills". The costs are all there in black and white and well documented on forums.

There are alternatives but they seem little better.

We once had a Ryanair crash landing just as we took off at Reus following the engine lunching a flock of seagulls. The pilot was very professional and landed us safely but scarily. All the passengers could do when Ryanair eventually abandoned the flight was moan about who is paying for taxis and hotels. That flight to the UK cost us a £1 each. They put us on the next day flight for no charge.

I think he has done a lot to get fares down. If you want leg room and meals, bed, TV, free drinks then maybe Singapore airlines ........

Having arrived at Majorca airport with 2.5 hours to spare with 2 small children and a wife.....waited in a piss poor que for 2 hours....arrived at the checkin desk to be told I had to go and que to at the lae arrivals desk because my flight had been moved to that one becasue it was leaving shortly.

Dash to the gate to be given loads of abuse by piss poor staff for being nearly late (my fault was it?) and then told there were only single seats left and it was tuff shit....

I have to say there were nearly 3 ryanair staff with black eyes that day!

And thats not the firt time, I regularly travele with them from Stansted to Genoa....and also experienced similar poor service.

I will NEVER EVER use them again and will happily pay the few percent more to go with an alternative

It is a case of you get what you pay for I think, Ryanair/ sleazyjet etc, arent usually a pleasure to fly with, but for short flights (Belfast is only an hour) I can put up with the crap service for the prices they charge.
Flew to the U.S. with Virgin Atlantic and despite not being very good with flying, it was a very enjoyable experience.

We used to use Ryanair to visit the in-laws in Lodz, Poland.....

Flights were from East Midlands to Lodz direct which was perfect.

First time me and the wife went we paid £60 total inc bags, wheelchair charge(WTF???)  and taxes etc etc and were happy with that.....

However prices have steadily risen to the point where the risk of using them isnt worth it for the ticket prices....

We are flying to Lodz in May and went to book Ryanair, only to find that to get 2 adults and 2 kids over there would cost us over £440 all in......!!!!

So instead we are flying Wizzair from Donny Doncaster to Warsaw and the in laws are picking us up there......

Total cost £220....!!

Stuff you Ryanair, and your total lack of customer focus.
