Urgent Part needed
07. May 2010 at 11:50

Hi All
I need to get hold of a second hand 'Selector Lever Position Switch' for my 2.0 16v CDX Auto W Reg 2000.
It's the unit on the outside of the box on the drivers side and connects to the lever and a cable to the ECU?

Can anyone advise as VX want £272 + VAT  Angry
I'm in Tring, Herts?

Told the old one is malfunctioning?
Gearbox stuck in 'limp/safe mode' tested on Tech2 and advisory to replace unit?  all other electrics and box OK. (I do trust the garage  Wink)

Didn't realise that they can be overhauled, will give it a try first, thanks for the instructions and great pics.  Thumbs Up!

Wil let you know how I get on!

Just a thought, am I looking for anything in particular, apart from making sure its as clean as possible on the inner plates?
I know it seems like a dumb question!
Also, the Multi Meter.... I don have one, but my local garage has a Tech2, I assume they will know what top do?
Regards
JERRY

Also make sure its adjusted right - you can have a good switch, but with poor adjustment.  Less likely if its never been adjusted before though...

Cheers Fellas, great advice as usual  Thumbs Up!
And who knows I may save at least £270 in the process!
Keep you informed.

Lastly, I assume that once I have repaired the switch and re-installed correctly that I will have to have the ECU Gearbox Fault cleared? or will it go automatically when the switch is operating correctly?

Have a good local garage for that, plus I have an Op.com on order which may do it also?

Best Regards

JERRY
