Jul 2010 at 10:39 Personally, No Have been led to beleive if you have a fire, and put it out, youve sorted it, insurance wont want to know. however let it burn, and the 'fire' part of your insurance comes into play. Dont know how true that is...but I'd go for the total loss option myself.

I have got a baby and if for some reason i couldnt get him out and the car was on fire at least i would have another option.

Interested in your comment on the insurance company considering you attempting to put out the fire.
After asking the question of a couple of companies, the consensus is that: if you believed you were attempting to contain the fire to protect life, limb, and property you would NOT be penalised in any way.

Thats pretty obvious to be honest. But as a fall back if i was in a serious accident and i couldnt get him out i would like to at least try something to stop him burning to death these things aint there for every day motoring there for emergancies if it helped a little that enough for me and as said in my previous post it has worked in the past for me. If you dont want one fair enough but some people do want them thats why they exist. Fair enough they wouldnt work on a massive blaze but every big fire start off small and thats what these are designed for as i dont see the fire brigade turning up in smart car with one of these between 10 of them to put a house fire out.
