Rear Disc/Drums
11. Nov 2010 at 12:32

About 4 weeks ago I replaced both back disc/drums with genuine Gm parts.

Since then the spots of rust have appeared all around the outer edges of the drum part of the disc and as I have Ronal rims fitted it looks really nasty.

Naturally I could just remove both wheels and get out the hammerite paint and do a job on them, but would have expected some protective coating to be applied at manufacture to avoid this.....or have I been sold poor quality parts.?

Maybe, but my GM ones also did the same.

No I don't think you have. I had exactly the same experience. I don't think any manufacturer would consider doing this on parts which are not directly visible and those on which any surface corrosion is going to have no effect at all on their operation just their cosmetic appearance!!
