Refusing to fire...
11. Nov 2010 at 18:34

Hoping for some wisdom here...

Literally just (1hour ago actually) came to my new(to me)  '99 Omega 2.5 v6, key in, turned it and the engine happily turns over but not joy on firing and the engine management light is flashing.

When its turning over theres a "ticking" noise from the drivers side of the engine.

I treated it to some new plugs when I bought it and it sounded rough when I drove it from Stoke to Coventry to last weekend but drove fine if not a bit underpowered.

Was told to check the Lambda's so decided to buy some new ones to test out which have only just arrived today but cannot fit till tomorrow afternoon to see if this cures the rough sounding engine.

If not then i guess I'll check the DIS pack? (where ever that is)

But as for it not firing, I'm stumped....

if the eml is flashing as you are cranking over the engine, that will be a problem with the transponder reading the chip in the key. has the key been opened or dropped recently?

Result!

Took the key apart, pressed the chip in and after jiggling the key in the ignition, she fired up Smiley

However... still sounds like a V8 lol
