Engine code fun :-)
12. Nov 2010 at 14:03

Right, have just done the paperclip test for the first time on my Miggy which is running a bit rough and sounding like a V8...

Getting the engine codes...

129  Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Voltage Low

33   Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low

22   Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage Low

So before I go get stuck in to what I "think" I should be doing, what would be the best course of action to rectify these faults?

Try cleaning your EGR (bolted to the drivers side edge of the plenum), best to use a strong oven cleaner or paint stripper and they gunge up pretty badly. If you don't fancy that and just want to replace it I have a spare one here I know works from a car I'm breaking Thumbs Up!

as above, i used an old tooth brush to really work the paint stripper in the EGR, its amazing the amount of crap that comes out!

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

Well this doesn't look promising...

I've taken the EGR off and I'm not impressed. The valve was held on with a jubilee clip and an 'L' shaped bracket clamping the two to whatever the EGR bolts to.

The EGR came off in my hand and theres 3 fine thread screws that look like they have been snapped off.

When i unbolted the torque bolts there was a strip of metal blanking two holes that the EGR use.

Thinking "cream crackered"...

So the 3 bolts are snapped off in the plenum? Can you take a picture and post it (or email it to me and I'll post it)?

Just kick started it this morning and its running unbelieveably rich. Had 80miles range in the tank, drove 16miles and now the fuel light has come on... Thinking possible leak...
