Just had the same problem myself - the heater fan motor is fubarred. You can get them on e-bay for £20-£30 delivered.   There are lots of other postings with fitting instructions.   One tip - check replacement fan for broken blades or missing balancing weights otherwise you will get terrible vibration and have to strip down and replace all over again

More likely to be the rheostat, just had to replace mine, and seems to be a common problem; there have been a lot of similar posts recently.... Sad

having read all the threads the most common fault is that the scuttle drain gets blocked and filled with water, the water overflows and gets into the fan motor and destroys the bearings or motor or both and the fan stops working.   If you have had wet passenger carpet then some time in the future your fan will pack up - changing it is a cheaper option to any other component on a facelift model.

Cos I was ill and I needed it fixing so put it into a local auto electrician........and said fix it... Thumbs Up!
I also asked them to replace the airbag ecu, he questioned my request I said yes, just do it, till he mentioned that a new one is in the high hundreds.... Shocked Shocked I suggested he leave it, he felt I had made the right decision... Cheesy Cheesy
