Heated seats
31. Dec 2010 at 09:51

The passenger seat seems to get far to hot resulting in the seat starting to smoke even when on a low setting and the drivers seat only gets hot in one place not an even spred and also get rather hot when on a low setting, has anyone come across this before?

Yes.

Its caused by the multi-stranded element failing and developing a hot spot.

It will eventually either burn-through or go open circuit.

You have either got an Elite with cloth or any other model (except MV6) with leather.

The hot spot can be fixed - but it's VERY Time consuming. The other option is to fit an after market heating pad - but this still means stripping the seat down - which is a complex job.

Update your profile with location and details of your car and that might allow others to help you if they are local.

Thanks - Rob

Thank's Rob, I think that I have updated now, I only came on here yesterday as I have been trying to find parts for my car as it needs a new water pump, head gasket and so on and all within 9 days of buying it, bit of a dampener to my christmas and even more so when I have only heard such good things about the car, but all will be fixed soon and I can carry on with many miles of motoring pleasure again.

You are welcome.

Just to let you know that the facelifted cards have different seat heaters from the earlier cars.

If your car has rotary seat heater controls with numbers then its a facelift model, if it has a simple on/off switch with yellow light then its a mini-facelift model.

Thumbs Up!
