Air filters........
12. Jan 2011 at 22:20

....for my `99 2.5 V6.: the motor factors list 2 types of the same brand with the same rectangular dimensions, but as best I can figure, the only difference is in the depth of the pleats and an additional stiffening/support rib. Undecided

Was there a model year change of filter?.....or is the deeper pleated filter an engine-performance/greater-flow requirement for the later 2.6/3.2`s?

There are 3 types Debs... Vx genuine, motor factors better quality and motor factors cheap sh!te. You'll be fine with the first 2 Wink Avoid the 3rd option.

If you imagine the surface area difference between the deeper pleat and shorter pleat, which gets clogged up first? Wink

I think the same must apply to pollen filters. My 2.5 has a meaty looking 3M filter but the 3.0 has a rather chatty looking paper thin Airflow one.

This why I asked:
The Coopers filter (AG1173) has much less depth and fewer pleats than the Wix (WA6621) and the latter has pleat-stiffeners; at both top and bottom...a much better quality item. (£8.90 inc. VAT) Thumbs Up!
