Head gasket repair

Hello all, I live in Yeovil Somerset and I need to get the head gasket fixed on my meg 2.5 V6 cd , I need to know if there is anyone out there who know's of a good garage or a mobile mechanic who will do the job well and not charge the earth for doing so, I have a new job to start on Monday and need it doing asap, there must be someone out there surely.

It's over heating within 5 mins of starting cold, when you turn it over after being left for a day or so it won't start straight away and you can here water being drawn back into the head kind of a gurgling noise. There is massive presure build up whe it has been run in the header tank and I have only had it a month and got 9 days use out of it I'm gutted. I have seen some where that it could be the oil cooler but I'm not getting any heat in the car from the heater either.

Jan 2011 at 10:10 No didn't get it from a garage had I of done then I would have put it through thier front window(Obviously a joke) I have'nt done any test as I'm a carpenter so not to sure on what I'm doing but wil have a look at the HBV to see if it's leaking, am I right in saying it's at the back of the engine?

No heat indicates this could have failed and no longer shunting water into the heater matrix. Could also be the cause of the gurgling noise! So inspect that first and see whats what!

Can you see a water leak at all?
Perhaps the small vac pipe is not on the top of the HBV? this will cause no heat in the cabin.

The Thermostat could be stuck shut in which case the car would over heat, I have seen a few now.

If you remove the Coolant Reservoir Cap then start the car (making sure there is water in the reservoir) does the water explode out with every pump of the pistons?

Does water come flying out of the exhaust like a firemans hose?

Ok so you dont have any external water leaks. . Hbv would normally leak if it was that.

So when the coolant cap is off water is not gushing up with the force of the piston stroke?

Is your radiator getting hot?

The radiator gets warm yes, when I say that the water does not come out it does in a gushing motion yes and the preasure buid up is imense with the cap on whenn the cap is of and the car is warm you start it up and it starts to buble then the warter is just forced out un till nothing comes out and when you turn it off the water in the tank dissapears and you have to top up again.

Jan 2011 at 22:33 I was advised by a mechanic to remove all spark plugs get someone to look at the engine bay whilst you turn the car over. See if any coolant spurts out any of the cylinders. If it does like it did on mine. Head gaskets blown do not even attempt to drive it.
