hello all just an update on my v6 it has been timed back up and the compression has been checked on each cylinder and to shock you all no valves have been bent  Shocked so it has had a new belt and a new water pump (apparently some bearings from the water pump are what caused the belt to jump) and is running as sweet as a nut Thumbs Up! a big thanks to sierrapaul(my brother in law) and a big thanks to all of you here at OOF that helped Thumbs Up! (ps when a belt jumps 3 teeth all hope is not lost)

If your garage genuinely believes that a failed water pump bearing has caused the cam belt to jump then he doesn't know what he's doing. You should change your garage.

Or

If your garage is trying to get you to believe that a failed water pump bearing has caused your cam belt to fail, he's conning you. You should change your garage.

Unless the water pump failed causing the Aux belt to snap and end up in the cam belt Wink

I know it has reputedly happened here, but it's very very unlikely, that's one of the reasons for fitting a cam belt cover. My fan belt shredded itself recently and ended up no where near the cam belt. Infact how many places are there where anything could get through to the cam belt?

yes but the point is on the V6 the cambelt does not drive the water pump.  what people are trying to say is that although the garage has apparently fixed the problem, what they are telling you is plainly wrong.  If they are prepared to tell you a bunch of lies about the problem, have they done the work correctly.

the waterpump bearing broke up and caused the belt to jump.the waterpump caseing had a hole in it and the rollers came out the pump.and as you know or should know the waterpump sits behind the cam cover and only the pully sits on the outside of the cover.so it is poss and the garage is very good and not rip offs
