....first time playing prop at rugby union.  I used to play flanker or prop in rugby league but today was my first time propping in union after being called up at short notice due to a lack of numbers....

...feck I hurt, especially my upper back.  My opposite number was a massive cruel barsteward too.  Twice he managed to lift me off the ground with nothing but his head and I am 18 stone!  Shocked  Out of a dozen scrums I only manged to hold him off 3 times  Embarrassed

Well I guess I need to alter my gym regime for the next match  Grin

Oh and we won  Thumbs Up!

Tighthead or Loosehead?

I've only Propped to fill in in an uncontested scrum

I'm currently 2nd row (only 6 1) and generally do the lifting of my next door neighbour (tall but not heavy).

Much prefered No 8 when I last played 26 years ago!

Matthew

As it was my first time on the front row I went tighthead, I have been played at 2nd row before but I hate it with a passion.  Despite the pain I prefer Prop  Grin

Thumbs Up!
I was at tighthead...or on the right wing.  Huh   If I got a clean break when playing in the pack, the opposing backs would get some real stick for not being able to catch a 'prop forward'.  Grin

lol because I come from a league background I have more pace than your typical prop.  The difficulty lies in changing direction once the train is a full speed Grin
