Grrr...............

Had to change the rad over on my miggy last night, on the way up to Brikheads place to get the LPG bits he's got the temp guage suddenly went straight into the red in an instant.

Pulled over, to find a bloody great hole in the rad you could put your thumb through!!!

Called Mr RAC, who came in 30 mins (pretty good, eh?) and after looking under the bonnet pulled out a brand new bolt, about 3" long and 17mm head saying " got the problem!!"

Obviously fell out/off something on the motorway.

Thanks to the local breaker being a friend of mine, who went up to work and got a s/h rad for me at 8pm (cheers steve) I'm now back on the road again, £40 lighter.

Reckon I'm gonna put a piece of perforated steel in front of the rad to stop that happening again!!

Now then Rich, we'll try again!!

Believe me, Jonny.......
That thought crossed my mind, and when you see the size of the bolt against the size of my hole in the rad.......... Shocked

I did once lose a bolt from a car..

Stopping at J8/9 on the M4 and I heard a 'ping, ping, rattle, ping' under the car and the exhaust sounded a little blowy..

Took me ages to figure out that the blow was coming from the hole left by the M6 bolt that should have been in the turbo exhaust housing holding the housing to the centre section (one of 9, IIRC)  Embarrassed I had the exhaust apart half a dozen times trying to fix that until I stuck my hand up there with it running and went 'ouch! hot gas!'.

Embarrassed

Only bolt I've ever lost, though, and it was a tiny one at low speed, thankfully!

I know someone who was quite surprised when one of his rear wheels overtook the car on the motorway!

Not the Motorway but there's the embarrassing "screeeeech" from your fan belt as your alternator nearly falls off - while posing along the Mulsanne straight on "mad friday". Embarrassed

bad news.. but at least it doesnt come straight at your head..

2 years ago when coming back from holliday I was tired after 7 hrs of driving.. and suddenly I woke up when I saw a tire from a truck coming towards us , it was so sudden that I could only use the brakes for a second and it hit the car in front of us  and jumped over us Shocked Shocked

as you can guess the damage was enormous .. his bonnet, bumper, radiators ,grill all smashed:(

That probably sounded a bit like the "screeeeech" I got when the aircon compressor siezed on the Nissan .. complete with a cloud of blue burning-rubber smoke when I stopped at the next junction.. it still has no compressor, to this day  Grin
