help please with new toshiba laptop

hi all  i have a problem with a toshiba c 660 laptop i bought today  basically i fully charged it and whilst the power lead is plugged in everything works hunky dory   the problem appears when i unplug the mains  all i get is a message saying windows cannot connect to the page and i lose the wifi signal  as soon as i plug the mains back in all starts working again  any ideas  and nothing too technical please  bit of a thicko when it comes to computors   bthanks Thumbs Up!

Check the power settings. Vista or windows 7? Possibly mobility centre settings?

its windows 7  where do i look for the power settings  and what should they be set to   ta very much

you have a battery symbol on the bottom right. click it and you can adjust power settings which will ensure the wifi stays switched on when unplugged Thumbs Up!
