Yes, you might behave in the correct way, but there's an increasing majority who don't. As always they spoil it for the rest. Some people are incapable and unwilling to be educated.

Society makes laws to protect people from themselves and each other, and being young and fit myself, and having being shot a number of times, it hurts, but as said, I'm young and fit so can still defend myself. More vulnerable people can't. These are the people society needs to protect from our resident idiots.

If you were to check, gun crime has significantly decreased (nationally) over a couple of decades.

Knife crime peaked just over 5 years ago (decreasing slightly since).

Wouldn't we be better of sticking the Kitchen Devil's in a locked cabinet?

I wont go into detail, because it's my business and I dont talk about that stuff, but I've had several thousand rounds of serious ammunition, including missiles fired at me and my colleagues. Thankfully, I dont have any physical wounds to prove this.

On another note, shooting animals or pests, vermin, whatever is actually a good thing when done in a controlled manner. DOnt forget that us as humans introduced (example) The Grey Squirrel. Kill 'em all!

I don't care if we introduced grey squirrels or not. What then is your justificaation for killing them?

My point exactly - it's all about educaton, not legislation!!!!

Look at handgun crime stats as a case in point. Since they were banned, crimes involving handguns have sky-rocketed. Which just goes to prove - the criminals of this world can, and do, continue to hold them, whereas us law-abiding people cannot.

Do you think that's fair Geoff??

And as for your comment about about "killing arseholes who shoot animals" - my family and I enjoy a nice rabbit stew, pigeon pie, and pheasant - basically, anything I shoot which we can eat, we do eat. Is that wrong? Or would you sooner us buy it from a butcher, who's bought it from another "gun", who shot it in the first place? Thumbs Up!

If, as your previous post suggested, that you'd done time in the Services, then you'd know what "field-stripping" is Wink

I you haven't, then apologies for the assumption on my part.

Field-stripping is taking down a rifle (or pistol for that matter), and cleaning/servicing/oiling it before re-assembling it.

I shoot animals, it's a more humane death than you will find any meat on our supermarket shelves has been through. I also eat what I shoot because I have practically and unintentionally feeding what I shoot (they eat my home grown veg)

Eating what I shoot is better for the environment, free (less the cost of the pellet) and legal. This law is just enforcing what air gun (not firearms) owners should be doing anyway and is good news.

The OP is right, education is the key to firearms control. He came in here giving a heads-up on a new law which many havent heard about and you pile in to him about using firearms? I for one am glad of the OP's contribution.

Oh, and we dont call it field-stripping in the forces. We refer to it as stripping a weapon. Thumbs Up!

I did some checking, I need the permission of the landlord in which the building/house the pigeons are.

There is a notice in my flat lobby saying not to feed them, as they are pests/rodents. I suspect it would be easy to get approval to shoot them
