Well. Look how many experts we have here regading fieldcraft & country life. Firstly i'd like to make it clear that i have no military experience of real firearms or said combat. I admire the bottle of those of you who have but could'nt comment. I do however have a 22 Webley Xocet carbine barrel rifle with BSA sights that can easily drop a bunny from 60 yards & is legal pressure. I only use super H point pellets. I only shoot on land with a friend who has shooting rights on said land. Otherwise it stays cleaned & in it's case, it's not a toy. I eat most of what i shoot. Is that any worse than a fisherman taking his dinner home?
I've never posted my shooting in over 4 years because it was bound to offend some bleeding heart or other & i get into enough rows on here as it is. I shoot with gamekeepers. If we did'nt foxes would kill more than we do.

Somebody killed the roast dinner many of you will enjoy on Sunday, bacon sarnies, stews, sheppies pie, spagbol etc. If you are veggie then fair go that is your choice but by evolution we are hunters & carnivores, top of the food chain. That's just how it is, get over it. Roll Eyes

Amigo, I know that we mankind have this hunting habits in our genes from ancient times.. But in 21 century there are more than 6 billion hungry people around.. if they all got one gun/rifle and try to hunt what will happen.. Grin Cheesy Thumbs Up!

Cem. You are a kind & good hearted man, i enjoy your posts & value your friendship but we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one...call a truce if you like. I understand your views but will still shoot & eat meat. Sorry, Guy.

i'm gonna ask two really daft questions , basically cos its what i like to do lol

question 1, if i keep an air rifle locked in my cabinet downstairs , and an air pistol repeater upstairs in a lockbox say , in my wardrobe . if a burglar breaks in can i shoot the git and claim i was taking reasonable precautions to prevent a firearm etc failing into the wrong hands , i mean its the law afterall .

2nd , this is for geoffr70 , i can't help wondering if you live in a house on a housing estate and drive on a road and shop at a supermarket or local grocers etc ??? cos in my view mate unless you live in a bleedin prehistoric forest in a tent made from flax and coted in moss and eat only forest vegetables then your a hypocryte , do you have any idea how many  animals were killed just to clear the land you live on ? or how many pests are killed just so your veggies dont get munched before they reach you ? how many ickle wickle badgers and foxes and bunny wabbits got squished and how many birds flattened by the bulldozers to build the roads you drive on ?

i know , your gonna tell me you only eat what you grow and you cuddle the slugs not kill em , i cant win an argument with you , i just dont have your conviction , find it bloody weird you were in the forces though , whats the deal ? its ok to kill humans but not animals , the words 'take your head for a wobble' spring to mind .

Not quite how I would have worded the comment but (strangely after the speed discussion!) I find myself in complete agreement with you Shocked Shocked Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

I have not and never will shoot any animal just for the fun of it..Ok with the exception of a rat. One day i come face to face with a pheasant.. Could have killed it no problem, but, i fired into the air to give it a fair chance, still couldn't shoot it. But, if i came face to face with an enemy and it was him or me, air rifle or not, i would not hesitate.

Just for the record i am not a vegetarian, i do eat meat, but do not shoot animals only Targets.. Air rifles can be a dangerous weapon but only if the holder is a dangerous person.

I can't shoot a bunny they are too cute.. Smiley And besides, what did he do to me.... Tongue

Seconded... Guy, you are a man after my own heart. I shoot the rabbits/Pigeons for food... I never let anything I shoot suffer and it is always eaten. It ids, as you say, no different to a fisherman in reality Wink

We can only equate this to nature. No matter how well intentioned none of us are going to stop the big cats killing thier prey, birds eating insects & worms, crocodiles attacking wilderbeast as they drink etc etc.

Vegetables are alive until we crop, peel, chop, boil/fry & eat them. We ALL have to eat.
