Okay... Okay...

We've gone a bit off track here.

With regards to the thread title, who thinks that privatising the test centres which become run as business's (which will run for profit otherwise they won't be open for long) will be better than the current 'government' run system we have now.

almost nothing thats been privatised has resulted in a better end product for the consumer - and we still end up subsidising private company profits. Not everything needs to make money  Thumbs Up!

even banks tried privatisation and it didnt work out - we subsidise them even with their galactic profits over the last century or so.....proof - if proof were ever needed that socialism benefiting all is the only course of action.

I'm sure everyone agrees with me on this  Wink

Yes....just look how much taxpayer money the private  rail companies have been given... Undecided

Taxpayers money has been pumped into the privatised railway system to try and reverse the decades of neglect during British Railway days, plus the money not paid to the previous Big Four companies during the 1939-45 war years.  Billions of pounds was not spent when it should have been. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Lips Sealed

Lizzie.....If the company is private let it succeed or fail on it's own. If it can't thrive without the taxpayer picking up the bill then it should be nationalised.

I thought that the whole point of the Tory privatisations in the eighties and nineties was that the taxpayer would no longer have to prop up companies such as British Leyland.... Wink Kiss Kiss

Ah but Opti we could do without BL, but we should never do without our railways even though successive Governments since 1948, and back post the Great War, tried to do in favour of motor transport.  What a mistake to make!! Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue   The billions that should have been spent from 1948 to the 1990s on the railways would have made all the difference to what we have now! Angry Angry Wink Wink

Well as its said Lizzie...

Progress isn't always a good thing.  Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

Different topic again, but that's why I don't think we should have computers connected to everything going... Yes we can do it, but do we need to is the real question.

"Yes we can... but do we need to" seams to apply to a lot of things these days  Huh
