Hi all,

I'm after a towbar, preferably a Witter one but not essential.

Its to fit a '99 omega elite estate.

TIA   Thumbs Up!

Why Witter?  Witter make aftermarket towbars, you'be better off with a OE Bosal.

Hi Andy,

I say Witter as I currently have one fitted to my saloon Omega on which I have my Witter Bike rack attached to it. I'm about to lay my hands on an Estate Omega and want to keep the Witter bike rack.
At the end of the day though, money is the bottom line so will have to buy what I can afford!  Cool

Some towball are 2 bolt flange (which what I suspect Black viper has & his bike rack bolts behind the ball) or a swan neck. The two types are completely different.

If it's specifically for a prefacelift car wil there be enough room between the back of the ball & the rear bumper?  Undecided

I'm presuming that the 99 Elite estate is a mini facelift Wink

I've recently sold a Witter towbar which was removed from a facelift estate. I don't think there is a difference between facelift and preface on an estate...

Especially now that an Omega is old hat as far as the towbar manufacturers are concerned, they're not going to go to the effort of making two versions when one will do. My car initially had an aftermarket bar fitted when I bought it (a Witter type 2" box section below the car) and you could've driven a horse & carriage between the ball & the bumper. I bought a Bosal bar that was the specific bar for the car and that was at a far more sensible distance from the bumper. I notice that Bosal now just do a one size fits all towbar. The detachable now fitted to the car was originally from a face lift car and again there is a huge gap between the ball & bumper (doesn't matter though cos it's detachable  Wink)
As all facelift cars - estate & saloon - have deeper bumpers it would make sense that originally pre-facelift towbars would be different from later cars
