Time For A Bit Of A Service (MPG Issues)
08. Feb 2011 at 21:51

Hi All

Planning on carrying out a little service to the tractor over the next few weeks. What I would ideally like to do is replace/check anything that could affect the MPG im acheiving. Its not too bad tbh but anywhere I can save money is a god send at the moment.

I think it is giving about 200 miles for £30. This is mostly town/50 mph A roads. Maybe this is quite acceptable, but swmbo reckons its juicier than it used to be, and as shes the one who drives it mostly now then who am I to argue.

I have emptied any rubbish etc that was in it so its not carting round unwanted weight (it did have my tools in it for a while)

But what I would like to know is: Apart from changing the oil, oil filter, air and fuel filters what else is there (assuming I have no leaks anywhere which im pretty sure I havent)

Tyre pressures are all where they should be and no wheels are binding.

Thanks everyone

Wayne

Seeing as you only get around 5 gallons of derv for £30 I think that you are doing pretty well to get 200 miles, thats around 40 to the gallon Thumbs Up!

Mpg in cold weather will be worse unless doing long journeys. Also is your temperature guage in the middle when warmed up?

Nope, think you have it covered - standard servicing and tyre pressures Thumbs Up!

I assume it starts fine, as dodgy glow plugs might use excessive fuel on start-up for bit.

Also, on those tractors, check the leak-off pipes are secure and not leaking.
