Snapped airbag connector!! Help please!
09. Feb 2011 at 15:36

Hey guys...

Yesterday I fixed the heated seat on pass side.  Today I went to do my drivers seat, and on removing the plugs, I snapped the clip on the yellow airbag connector!
Any tips?  I'm guessing I can't just superglue it?
I'm obviously car-less (barring friends giving me lifts) as I can't plug up the battery again until the airbag is reconnected, otherwise I will get the permanent airbag light on the dash.

Here's a picture of the connector from someone else's thread.  Mine is yellow instead of grey, and has the same purple bit.  It's the clip on the side that has broken off.

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1296819520/0
It's the bottom picture.

Not sure if it's possible to re-wire a new plug.  Perhaps cut the old and solder the wires together to a new one?

Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
Julian

I cant see the pic but if it was the same as my Astra had then you will either have to glue or tape the clip or resolder it into a blank

Thought this t shirt was a limited edition. Undecided

Seems that everyone has got it. Roll Eyes

Plug it back in as is and it will be fine, it will eventually work loose though, putting the light on. Undecided

A pair of thin 3" cable ties threaded between the wires will hold it together nicely.  Thumbs Up!

Fixed mine like this not had a problem since. (furiously finds some wood to touch). Lips Sealed

lol al.

thanks guys.  story so far:
Vauxhall wont sell me a new one.  They only sell the entire loom as a whole.
Found a breakers with an omega, but connections were cut out when seats were taken (I saw the same one 2 weeks ago when looking for a window!)
Gonna try breakers yards first thing tomorrow.

If not, i will bodge it, maybe solder a normal audio connector that locks (like XLR or jack! lol), or even hardwire it in direct.
Obviously my preference is to find a replacement connector at breakers.  Looks like it's very simple swap, 10 second job.
We shall see in the morrow!

I'd have thought other Vauxhalls would've had the same connector.  Undecided

Personally I would solder it, I can't imagine you needing the seat out again.  Roll Eyes

bodge it who cares, lets be honest these cars aren't going to be on the road forever and if you do sell it on the new owner can expect a few bodges forr the money you would get for it!! and it's a seat hoe often do they get removed!! Wink

very good point Andy B... lol  That might give me a lot more sources tomorrow!

Bodge / Soldering might be a quick way, but if my bodge-soldered heated seat repair doesn't go to plan, I could have the seat out sonner than expected!!

o.k if that's the case take some off the shelf connectors and put it all together i mean at the end of the day you could use anything you have to hand to make the connection! strip the wires and tape them together if you were that way inclined!! all you need is the connection

I have just got back from the scrappys and got myself not 1, but 2 of the connectors, just incase Wink  Including the female end too, you never know...
Seat is back together and will hopefully be a simple job now of changing the male connector and re-installing.

Feel much better now!  Cool
Thanks guys

Connector swapped.
Seat in.
Battery on.
No warning lights, and no airbags going off in my face.

Good times!  Thumbs Up!
