Bit of an urgent one this fellas. Sorry.

After screwing it all back together, I finally got the Omega started for the first time today, (about 30 minutes ago actually).

With the battery booster it took some cranking to get it going. I put this down to the fuel filter being replaced, fuel rail being removed, (therefore zero fuel pressure), and the oil and filter being replaced. Also when it did start it sounded like a bag of spanners for the first 10 seconds or so, (so I assume hardly any oil pressure?).

Once started, (it took three attempts!), the "Engine electrics, Transmission electrics & Immobilizer" light stayed on, (but not flashing). This is the symbal that is a picture of a car with a spanner through it.

A few things of note. when changing the oil and filter, I was very carefull not to spill any oil on the crank sensor. I also filled up the canister oil filter with fresh oil prior to putting it on.

The transmission has yet to be touched. All wires, connectors etc are in the correct place and not lose.

The handbrake cable(s) is still dissconnected and the battery is flat in the key.

I left it running for about five minutes whilst I moved a few other vehicles out of the way, (in order to turn the Omega around so I could reverse it into the garage to sort the handbrake cable out).

Once it had started it sounded fine, if a little 'tappity' for the first minute or so. It did stall when I was turning the car around on the road, but at that time it wasn't on full lock and I was moving slowly in reverse. Obviously it needed re-starting with the aid of the battery booster.

The only other thing of note is that the brakes felt just a little spongy, (but not that bad), suggesting that there may still be a little air trapped in the ABS module???


So, what do you guys think? I've really bought a lemon haven't I?  Cry

Right, I've just done the pedal trick, (2003 2.6 auto).

The codes were as follows.......

one flash
one flash
one flash ten flashes

Then a longer pause, followed by;

0560


Would anyone be so kind as to explain to me what this means please?  Huh

Check connections to inlet manifold @ rear of plenum. Ignore 0560......due to battery running flat

Ok, I'm getting a little warmer. Only a little mind.

Fault codes found;

P0560 System Voltage High Input
P0560 System Voltage Low Input
P0560 System voltage malfunction

I suspected that the car battery was not far off it's last legs, and it's been sitting flat for over three months, so might that explain the fault code 0560? I don't have a multi-meter, so I'm unable to test sort of power the battery is kicking out. Even if I could, I guess the fault may also be linked to either an altinator or coil-pac on their way out?


The first fault codes out were as follows;

P1110 Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage High
P1110 Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low
P1110 Intake Manifold Valve 1 Open 

Now these one I don't have a clue about  Huh

Cheers Rob. I hope that does it, although TBH I thought I'd done a pretty good job of making sure that everything was connected and pluged in correctly.

I'll give it a try and report back.

Don't worry about 0560, it's cause you have a flat battery. For the other codes you need to check the electrical and vacuum connections to the Mulitrams (one on rear of plenum, other on lower of bagpipes). Can't remember which is one and which is two!

Oh and you may have a vacuum leak which would explain the spongy brake pedal

Needs a close eye casting over all the electrical and vacuum connections, but first, make a cup of tea, sit down and give yourself a break, the expression 'to close to smell the coffee' springs to mind!

Nope.

The light in my garage is pretty poor, so with what little daylight that there was left, I concentrated on adjusting my handbrake, topping up my coolant system, checking tyre pressures, topping up screenwash, replacing blown bulbs and getting rid of some of the mould on the leather.

This P1110 error will have to wait untill tomorrow, but thanks all for the advice so far.

I'm a bit stumped with it though TBH. I'm a bit OCD at the best of times, but I was super carefull to make sure that everything was connected up correctly, tightly, and in the right place. Although on saying that I did notice that those vacuam (how the hell did I spell it that way?) pipes were a bit slack at best. Maybe I should have put a small jubilee clip or tie wrap on them?

that code sounds like you havent plugged the (rear I think) multiram back in, or is loose.

That many ECU lights on and a battery fault code would ahev me checking the alternator charging voltage

Just about to go outside and get started with changing the oil cooler. If you want to pop round for a natter, a nosey, and a kick of the tyres then your more than welcome. The kettle will be on and I may even be able to stretch to a bacon buttie as well.
